Sydney Powell grew up in St. Charles, Illinois, and she fell in love with softball because she loved being a part of a team. She played school and travel ball from elementary through high school before joining the club softball team in college. Throughout her softball career, she primarily played outfield and pitched but also enjoyed being on the administrative/coaching side of the sport as well.

Sydney attended the University of Iowa, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Therapeutic Recreation in 2023 and is currently earning her Master of Science in Child Life. While at the University of Iowa, Sydney was on the Iowa Softball Club for 4 years. In her sophomore and junior years, she was on the executive board as the Team Relations Manager, and in her senior year, she was president of the club. As president, Sydney led the club to its first-ever national ranking, regional championship, and World Series appearance. The Iowa Softball Club finished the 2023 season going 27-5 overall and being the national runner-up in the NCSA World Series.

Sydney states that club softball greatly impacted her life because of how many people she met and the lasting friendships the sport created. She believes club softball is a great option for those who want to stay involved in the sport of softball and gain new skills in leadership.
