Melissa grew up in northwestern Pennsylvania. She has played softball since a young age, and was involved from the beginning of the University of Pittsburgh Club Softball team. The first two seasons were tremendous work getting the team established. As the only senior and vice president of Pitt Club Softball, her final season saw a strong foundation built for years to come for the team in the NCSA. Her year as vice president was full of learning experiences both with the NCSA and making the club successful overall, including organizing the team’s first trip to Tampa for the NCSA Spring Training Showcase.

Melissa graduated from Pitt in 2008 with a degree in rehabilitation science and soon after decided to continue her education somewhere warmer. In May 2010, she completed the Master’s program in Sport Management at Old Dominion University. She continues to be involved with softball as much as possible, including a recreation fastpitch league and participation on the Free Agent team at Spring Training.

“Being involved in club softball at Pitt along with coaching and running that team was a major factor in my decision to go back to school and incorporate my passion for sports into my career. I know that my education and experience growing the program in Pittsburgh will lend to my ability to help other clubs succeed in the NCSA. I am very excited for the chance to work with the NCSA and so many people who have the love of softball that I do.“
