Mara was born and raised in Florence, SC. As a child she grew up playing sports and dancing. She loved the competition of sports and being on a team. After a brief dancing stint, she rejoined the world of sports. In high school, Mara lettered in softball, quickly remembering her love of the sport from childhood.

She continued her education at Clemson University. Clemson only had intramural softball and mistakenly, Mara thought that would be enough. At the end of her freshman year she worked with the club sports director to establish the club softball team at Clemson. After a summer of work and building interest, Clemson re-joined the NCSA in the fall of 2012. Mara served as president of the team her sophomore, junior, and senior year. And helped as Clemson hosted it's regional tournament her junior and senior year.

She graduated from Clemson in May of 2015 with a Bachelors Degree in Computer Engineering. She is currently employed as an IT analyst at NCR.

"I can't imagine my life without softball. It truly made my college experience so much richer. I am so grateful for the extra time I had to play and the team I played with. I am really excited to be able to stay involved with club softball and the NCSA. I look forward to using my knowledge and experience from my past 3 years to help other teams grow and make the most of their season."
